I am working on a poetry collection. I describe it as splenic but not like Baudelaire’s spleen. That is the melancholic spleen, but splenic as in ancient and physical, poetry that comes from the body.
In Paris Spleen Baudelaire hsa 50 poems, and in my collection I have 42. Baudelaire is capturing the rhythms of life outside the traditional rhythms of poetry which is the meter. I am capturing the rhythms of the body, and the rhythms of the marrow, the history of the body, the history of our organs our dna the stories we have not released that haunt us and that give us strength.
